The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ, the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Connecticut and the Service Women’s Action Network (SWAN), have sued the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for violating the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The DoD failed to release records showing how the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), and the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) at West Point have maintained policies and practices that have resulted in student populations in which women are significantly under-represented and campus environments where misogyny and harassment prevail. The Veterans Legal Services Clinic at Yale Law School, the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵFoundation Women’s Rights Project, and the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Connecticut represent the plaintiffs.

The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ, ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Arizona, and private firm Aiken Schenk Hawkins & Ricciardi P.C., have settled a federal lawsuit challenging an unconstitutional municipal ordinance that pressures landlords to evict a tenant if more than four calls to police are placed in 30 days or for crimes occurring at the property, even when the tenant is the victim.

The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ and the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Colorado have filed a lawsuit on behalf of Ashley Provino, a Grand Junction, Colo. woman who was fired from her job, in violation of state and federal anti-discrimination laws, for asserting her right to pump breast milk at work.

In the first case brought by a survivor of domestic violence against the U.S. before an international human rights tribunal, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) found that the United States violated the human rights of Jessica Lenahan (formerly Gonzales) and her children. The decision underscores that the U.S. is failing in its legal obligation to protect women and girls from domestic violence.
