The case involves Groton’s enforcement of its nuisance ordinance against a landlord based on calls for police service, circumstances that did not constitute criminal activity, and other unjustified grounds. The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵfiled an amicus brief that highlighted the serious due process and First Amendment issues with the ordinance, as well as the impact of these ordinances on domestic violence survivors and people with disabilities.

The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ, the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Ohio and the employment law firm Outten & Golden LLP today filed a discrimination charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on behalf of a J.P. Morgan Chase (J.P. Morgan) employee who claims the company discriminated against him and other fathers by denying fathers paid parental leave on the same terms as mothers.

The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ Women’s Rights Project, ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Washington, Northwest Justice Project, and Virginia Poverty Law Center filed a federal lawsuit in March 2017 challenging the widespread practice of denying housing applications whenever an applicant was previously named in an eviction case.

The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ Women’s Rights Project and the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Missouri filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of a domestic violence survivor, challenging the constitutionality of a municipal ordinance which authorizes officials to revoke a resident’s occupancy permit based on calls for police assistance with domestic violence or based on crimes occurring at the property.

The ACLU, the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Northern California, and the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Southern California filed a lawsuit against the federal government for awarding millions of dollars annually to organizations that provide care, including access to medical care, to unaccompanied immigrant minors. The government authorizes some of these organizations to refuse on religious grounds to follow the law that requires them to provide these young people with access to contraception and abortion, even if the minor has been raped.
