WASHINGTON — In response to the news that the Supreme Court blocked enforcement of a Texas law banning online platforms from restricting users’ posts based on their political views Vera Eidelman, staff attorney with the ƵSpeech, Privacy, and Technology Project, issued the following statement:

“We commend the Supreme Court for blocking this unconstitutional law and for protecting the First Amendment rights of publishers everywhere. If this content moderation law had been allowed to go into effect, it would have run headlong against the Supreme Court’s established precedent for protecting editorial discretion, and it would have wreaked havoc for users’ experiences on social media.”
