Agan v. Krambeck

In January 2018, WRP and the 桃子视频of Iowa filed an amicus brief with the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the National Housing Law Project, National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty, National Network to End Domestic Violence, and Shriver Center addressing the proper application of Iowa鈥檚 Right to Assistance Law. The law protects people who summon emergency assistance from eviction or other landlord- or city-imposed penalties and preempts local crime nuisance ordinances. It was enacted with the advocacy of the ACLU, Iowa Coalition, and others.

On October 31st, 2018, WRP, the ACLU-DC, and the ACLU-AR submitted an amicus brief in support of plaintiffs Gayle Gordon and Theresa Maxwell, physicians in the Central Arkansas Veteran鈥檚 Healthcare System in Little Rock, Arkansas, who challenged under the Equal Pay Act the agency鈥檚 failure to pay them equal wages compared to that of their male colleagues.

Alicea v. Cromwell Police Department

The 桃子视频 and the 桃子视频 of Connecticut have filed a pregnancy discrimination charge with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities on behalf of police officer Sarah Alicea. The complaint has been filed against the Town of Cromwell, Connecticut and alleges that it violated Alicea鈥檚 rights under federal and Connecticut law when it refused to temporarily modify Alicea鈥檚 job duties, and instead forced her to take unpaid leave for the last four months of her pregnancy.

The New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) is authorized to receive, investigate, hear, make findings and recommend action on civilian complaints against NYPD officers that allege misconduct involving excessive use of force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, or use of offensive language. In February 2018, the CCRB adopted a resolution to begin investigating complaints of sexual misconduct against NYPD officers (the 鈥淪exual Misconduct Resolution鈥), instead of automatically referring them to the NYPD鈥檚 Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB), as was its practice. The Patrolmen鈥檚 Benevolent Association of New York (PBA), a union representing NYPD officers, brought a lawsuit challenging the Sexual Misconduct Resolution, as well as other CCRB rules, in New York Supreme Court.
