The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ and the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof New Mexico have filed a lawsuit on behalf of Shantelle Hicks, 15, who was initially kicked out of middle school and then publicly humiliated at an assembly by the school director and another staff member because she was pregnant.

The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ and the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Alabama asked several Alabama school districts to make public any and all documents relating to sex segregation policies in public schools from the past two years. The request was made under the Alabama Open Records Act.

This class action suit challenges the lawfulness of a Kentucky school district’s policy of segregating its students by sex and thus exposing them to a learning environment that is fundamentally unequal in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment, Title IX, the Equal Educational Opportunities Act, and KY sex equity law.

The suit charges the country of Kuwait and a Kuwaiti diplomat and his wife with trafficking three women and forcing them to work as domestic employees and childcare workers against their will under slavery-like conditions.

Whether housing policies that have a disproportionate impact on racial minorities and women violate the anti-discrimination provision of the federal Fair Housing Act.
